Black National Anthem To Be Performed At Super Bowl

Daily Mail reported that the NFL announced last week that the black national anthem will be performed before the Super Bowl by the Oscar-nominated singer Andra Day. The song has been performed at the last two Super Bowls, and it has been performed before NFL games since 2001.

“I think I got the call in November when they let me know that like, yes, we’re greenlit to do it and I remember having a very peculiar feeling,” Day, 39, told Entertainment Tonight. “I was like, ‘Why do I feel like it was, like, visceral?’ I was like, ‘Why am I nervous?’ Terrified. I had butterflies in my stomach in November for something that’s gonna happen in February.”

“I was so nervous but very, very excited. Grateful. And also, just an honor,” she continued. “It’s an honor to be singing the Black national anthem.”

“Lift Every Voice And Sing” was named the “Negro National Anthem” by the NAACP in 1919, and it later became a rallying cry for the civil rights movement. Critics of the song, however, say that it only divides the American people even further at a time when we should be coming together.

I thought they learned their lesson with the Kaepernick kneeling 🤦

There is only one National Anthem, it represents us all regardless of color, and in my opinion… no one gave a better… pic.twitter.com/BemKmt1LuT

After the NFL announced that the song would be performed once again this year, social media users were quick to fire back.

“The NFL has announced that the so-called ‘Black National Anthem’ will be performed at the Super Bowl,” said conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. “Of course, in reality, the black national anthem is performed at every Super Bowl, because The Star-Spangled Banner is the anthem of ALL Americans. The effort to create a ‘black national anthem,’ and a ‘black Independence Day’ in Juneteenth, is part of a wider project to divide Americans up by race.”

“The NFL is evidently continuing to perpetuate antiwhiteism and division during this year’s Super Bowl. If that’s what you support then enjoy watching. I certainly won’t,” another social media user added, with a third writing, “Fans have only themselves to blame. An organized boycott will stop this nonsense within a few short weeks. Instead of moaning about it, use your reach to organize a boycott and explain to the NFL what it has to do to get its audience back.”

“I’m probably done with the NFL,” commented a fourth user. “We have a National Anthem that represents us as the great American melting pot. To take that and now create an anthem for one single racial group is a slap in the face of every other ethnicity and to our country.”

If the NFL wants to play the Black National Anthem, I won’t be watching the Super Bowl this year!

Other Super Bowl Performances

“Lift Every Voice And Sing” was performed at last year’s Super Bowl by Sheryl Lee Ralph. While Day will be singing the black national anthem this year,  Reba McEntire will perform the actual national anthem “The Star Spangled Banner,” and Post Malone will sing “America the Beautiful.”

Despite what the left says, there is only one national anthem, and that song should be the only one performed before the Super Bowl. What do you think about the NFL continuing to push the black national anthem on us? Let us know in the comments section.
