I never had the chance to get a full-on college experience. My folks couldn’t afford to send me to college, so after high school, I had to join the service in which I spent many long nights and weekends getting my college education online from American Military University and George Washington University.
Like many of my peers, I used to daydream about a college experience when I was younger. Having my mind expanded with new experiences, different people, new ideas, engaging in vibrant debate, and reading engaging content.
Of course, like most daydreams, the reality is quite different, perhaps more so now than ever. College is no longer about preparing the future lawyers, doctors, and leaders of America— it’s about training future left-wing cry babies, as witnessed at Stanford Law School earlier this month.

Coached Indignant Outrage
A federal judge appointed by former President Donald Trump was invited to Stanford Law School to discuss various topics by the campus Federalist Society, including COVID, the Second Amendment, and the latest Twitter free speech drama. But, unfortunately, U.S. Circuit Judge S. Kyle Duncan could not speak thanks to the planned ambush by 100 student protestors and the Diversity Dean of the school… whatever the hell that is.
If you watch the video footage, it is evident that this Diversity Dean was ready for a fight and had prepared words to give at the event. I’m sure it is no coincidence that the whole thing was caught on video; we wouldn’t want to waste any faux outrage for social media.
Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Tirien Steinbach told Judge Duncan, “It’s uncomfortable to say this to you as a person. It’s uncomfortable to say that for many people here, your work has caused harm.”

It’s uncomfortable because it’s hogwash; if any of that were rooted in truth, it wouldn’t be uncomfortable at all.
“We believe that the way to address speech that feels abhorrent, that feels harmful, that literally denies the humanity of people – that one way to do that is with more speech and not less,” Ms. Steinbach ironically said all the while refusing to let Judge Duncan speak. Then, punctuating what she believed her role to be, she said proudly, “This event is tearing the fabric of this community that I care about and I’m here to support.”
But only the left-wing students, not the other students that literally invited the Judge to speak.

Hypocrites and Idiots
Like most Judges, right or left, Judge Duncan is no dummy. He believes “this was a setup, she was working with students on this.”
Judge Duncan rightly explained to these obnoxious college toddlers that “this is not going to work in a courtroom, this way of disagreement. Maybe that’s where we are going as a society, but that doesn’t work in my courtroom.”
Unfortunately, that is precisely where society is going; it could be that Judge Duncan’s courtroom will soon be the only place where this immaturity is not allowed as a foundation of elevated debate. Now there have been some who also criticized the Judge for some of his comments related to these students.
He called them hypocrites and idiots, which, I mean, both of which are accurate, so I don’t see an issue with it. I expect a Judge to be able to define his experience succinctly. I don’t think he needs to apologize because if it’s true, there is nothing to apologize for.
However, the good Judge did think he deserved an apology, stating “It would be nice if they reached out to me and said, ‘Gee, we’re sorry.’”
Well, gee, they actually did to give the school some credit.
If ANY law school did to a liberal judge what Stanford did to Judge Duncan, the American Bar Association would investigate and that school’s accreditation would be called into question.

Our Bad
The President and Dean of Stanford Law School penned an apology to Judge Duncan. In the letter, they wrote, “What happened was inconsistent with our policies on free speech, and we are very sorry about the experience you had while visiting our campus.”
Now you have to admit that’s pretty good.
“We are very clear with our students that, given our commitment to free expression,” the letter stated. “If there are speakers they disagree with, they are welcome to exercise their right to protest but not to disrupt the proceedings.”
The letter even touched on Ms. Steinbach, while not directly by name, adding “Staff members who should have enforced university policies failed to do so, and instead intervened in inappropriate ways that are not aligned with the university’s commitment to free speech.”
Finally, while on the topic of the oh-so-vital free speech, they closed the letter with, they continued by saying “Freedom of speech is a bedrock principle for the law school, the university, and a democratic society, and we can and must do better to ensure that it continues even in polarized times.”
So were the students expelled for violating the anti-disruption policy? Was the Diversity Dean let go for advocating and stirring said disruption?
Nope. Why would they be? That would require an actual adherence to the concept of accountability.

Fair Points
Fellow Fifth Circuit Judge James Ho and Eleventh Circuit Judge Elizabeth Branch wrote in the National Review that law schools should punish students that disrupt free speech and that they are effectively “failing to teach students how to become good citizens.”
“And if schools are unwilling to impose consequences themselves, at a minimum they should identify the disrupters so that future employers know who they are hiring,” they stated. I know if I owned a law firm or were a Judge looking for a new clerk, I’d want to know if my new employee was anti-free speech.
Senator Ted Cruz said of the incident, “This is Stanford Law School. They are trying to train social justice warriors. They’re trying to train Occupy Wall Street, burn it all down left-wing radicals. They’re trying to train Antifa. They’re not trying to train lawyers.”
Unfortunately, it may be too late. Higher education hasn’t been about higher education for decades but about making money and making future loyalists to whatever ideology pays the most.
While students held up signs such as this clever quip, “Judge Duncan can’t find the cl*t,” Ms. Steinbach said, “I’m glad this is going on here.”
I bet she was, she’s a hero to her tribe, a martyr to the cause, and her following of brainwashed minions get to feel as though they’ve contributed to a greater purpose.
So much for enlightened thought and elevated passionate debate.
