Biden Set to Take January 6 Theater to the Next Level With New Awards

Must read

President Biden will award the Presidential Citizens Medal to 12 individuals on the second “anniversary” of the January 6th riot at the Capitol, with the recipients including several Capitol Police officers.

In yet another sign that Democrats are working feverishly to make events of January 6th the newest National Myth, Biden will present those involved that day with one of the country’s highest civilian honors.

The Citizens Medal recognizes those Americans “who have performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or their fellow citizens.”

On the list are Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman, a former officer and current CNN contributor Michael Fanone, Capitol Police Officer Caroline Edwards, and a posthumous award for Officer Brian Sicknick.

The award for Sicknick is meant to further perpetuate the myth that he died in the line of duty while defending the Capitol.

In reality, Sicknick died of a stroke after the riot, and his death was ruled by “natural” causes and not “hastened by an injury.”

Fanone, who has spread that misinformation in appearances on CNN, is known for his melodramatic testimony before the January 6th select committee, which even his own colleagues have criticized as playing to the national media.

He was dragged into a mob and beaten during the chaos at the Capitol and suffered a heart attack during the melee. The man who pulled him into the crowd was just sentenced to 90 months in prison, rightfully.

Spitting in the Face of Capt. David Dorn

Democrats have repeatedly tried to foment the narrative that January 6th was the worst act of violence they’ve seen perpetrated on American democracy since the Civil War.

Biden made the false claim that five Capitol police officers were killed during the Capitol riot while asking reporters to imagine a similar scenario happening at other locations of import.

“Look, how would you feel if you saw crowds storm and break down the doors of the British Parliament, kill five cops, injure 145 — or the German Bundestag or the Italian Parliament?” he asked.

Tensions escalated. Violence did take place. But “five cops” were not killed on January 6th. Zero cops were killed.

During last year’s anniversary celebration, outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi held a candlelight vigil on the Capitol steps to honor the “heroes” who “lost their lives and sacrificed” on January 6.

She listed Sicknick along with police officer Billy Evans, who was killed months later by a Nation of Islam follower, officer Jeffrey Smith, who died on January 15th due to suicide, and officer Howard Liebengood, who died by suicide on January 9th.

It is important to remember that a total of four people died during the Capitol riot, but only unarmed Air Force veteran and avid supporter of former President Trump, Ashli Babbitt was killed.

She was killed by a Capitol Police officer.

Also important to note that Biden’s handing out of the Presidential Citizens Medal is an absolute middle finger to the hundreds of police officers who defended their cities and towns during the Black Lives Matter riots.

It is a spit in the eye of the family of retired St. Louis police captain David Dorn who, as U.S. News & World Report writes, was murdered “during a night of violence and looting sparked by racial injustice protests.”

Where are their medals? Where is Captain Dorn’s posthumous award?

Dorn rightly was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor Citizen Honors Award in 2021, nominated by Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri.

Brian Powell, the son of David Dorn, the retired St. Louis Police Captain who was murdered during a night of looting in June 2020, says his father didn’t receive enough recognition from the media for trying to keep the peace in his city.

Other recipients of the Presidential Citizens Medal will be a host of election workers who reportedly did their part to preserve Biden’s 2020 presidential victory.

They join other famous recipients of the award such as Muhammad Ali, Bob Dole, Roberto Clemente, and Gary Sinise.
